Swamp Kauri Hall Table with Waterfall Legs
A waterfall leg is a quiet detail, but it changes the whole piece. Instead of a separate top sitting on four supports, the timber appears to fold down at each end. The result is clean, architectural and especially effective on a long, narrow hall table.
This Swamp Kauri project was photographed in the workshop from individual top and end sections through to the assembled console form.
Keeping the grain moving around the corner
The appeal of a waterfall table lies in continuity. The mitred joint needs to meet cleanly, and the timber figure should feel connected as the horizontal top turns into the vertical leg.
Kauri brings plenty of grain movement, so the junction is not just structural. It is a focal point. Several gallery images look directly along the top and down the end panels, making the crisp profile easy to inspect.

A slim table for transitional spaces
Hallways and entry areas often need furniture with a small footprint. A narrow console can provide a useful surface without interrupting circulation. The open space beneath this piece keeps the long form visually light, while the full-height waterfall ends give it enough presence to anchor a wall.
There are no extra braces or decorative parts competing with the timber. Honestly, it does not need them. The proportion, grain and two folded ends do the work.
Custom hallway furniture in Auckland
For a made-to-measure hall table, the available wall length and walking clearance are the most useful starting points. Photos of skirting, power points and nearby doors can also help determine the final form. Timber character and finish can then be selected around the interior.
