Custom Jarrah Stair Treads at Britomart

A commercial Jarrah stair project at Britomart, following the timber from weathered workshop boards through preparation to installed open treads.

Custom Jarrah Stair Treads at Britomart

The raw timber in this gallery is rough, dark and weathered. The installed stair is orderly and precise. Between those two states sits the real work: selecting usable Jarrah, preparing each tread and coordinating the finished pieces with an existing commercial site.

This Britomart project records both workshop and installation stages, including the open stair beside integrated planting areas.

Preparing Jarrah for repeated stair components

A staircase depends on consistency. Each tread is seen beside the next, so thickness, surface preparation and edge treatment need to read as one system.

The workshop photographs show individual Jarrah boards and clamped components during preparation. Their original surface character is still visible in the early stages, followed by cleaner grain and more defined edges.

Timber within a commercial setting

Installed views show two flights and the surrounding architectural elements. The warm Jarrah treads contrast with metal handrails, masonry and planted areas, bringing a natural material into a hard-working public interior.

Open risers keep the stair visually light. At the same time, the repeated dark timber lines give the route a strong, easy-to-read rhythm.

Commercial timber fit-out planning

A stair project requires coordination with site dimensions, structure, access and the wider construction programme. Drawings, material requirements and accurate installation information are essential starting points.
