A good office desk has to handle the practical parts of work without making the room feel cluttered. This custom Ash desk uses a simple rectangular form, a durable black PU finish and two cable-management openings to create a clean shared workstation.
The project is shown in use with multiple monitors and office chairs around the desk. It is a useful example of custom office furniture designed around equipment, cable routing and the way a team actually works.

A clean surface for a working office
The desk top has a long, straightforward profile, giving several workstations room to sit along the same surface. The black finish keeps the visual field calm and works with the darker office chairs and monitor stands shown in the completed installation.
Two cable openings are built into the top. They are small details, but they change how the workstation functions. Screens, chargers and other equipment can be connected without leaving every cable running over the front or around the desk edge.
For a shared office, that makes the desk easier to organise from the start. The work surface stays usable, and the equipment layout can be changed without redesigning the whole room.

A practical base for commercial furniture
The desk is supported by a dark rectangular base with a broad lower rail. That gives the long top a stable visual foundation and leaves clear legroom beneath the main working area.
The completed office view shows how the proportions work with standard rolling office chairs. The desk is substantial enough for several screens, but its straight lines keep the room open around it. This is where a made-to-measure commercial desk can be more useful than a collection of separate workstations: the size, cable locations and support structure can be considered together.
The black PU finish also gives the piece a consistent appearance across the top and base. In a working environment, a restrained finish can help the furniture sit alongside monitors, chairs and other office equipment rather than competing with them.
Designing a custom office desk around the brief
When planning custom office furniture, the first questions are usually practical ones:
- How many people will use the desk?
- How much clear surface is needed for screens, keyboards and paperwork?
- Where should cables enter and exit the top?
- How much legroom is required?
- Should the desk stand alone or work as part of a larger office layout?
This Ash desk answers those questions with a shared rectangular top, integrated cable openings and a strong, uncomplicated base. The result is not over-designed. It is a focused workstation built around the equipment and the room.
